Wim Wenders, German film director who was one of the principal members of the New German Cinema of the 1970s. He directed fictional films and documentaries. Some of Wenders’s best-known works included Wings of Desire (1987), Buena Vista Social Club (1999), and The Salt of the Earth (2014).
